IUCN Red List of Threatened Species Found in Tropical Dry Forests
Scientific Name: Erythrina schliebenii
​
Is a critically endangered tree species which was believed to have gone extinct twice and is only found in the coast Tropical Dry Forest of Tanzania (“Two Twice ‘Extinct’ Trees Rediscovered in Coastal Tanzania,” 2012). They produce unique vibrant red leaves and have a spiny trunk. Currently the population is stable with 10-49 individual trees (“IUCN Red List of Threatened Species: Erythrina Schliebenii,” 2011). Threats to Erythrina schliebenii include agriculture and deforestation as a Dutch company cleared part of the endemic forest for biofuel plantation in 2008 (“Two Twice ‘Extinct’ Trees Rediscovered in Coastal Tanzania,” 2012).

Common Name: Antsingy Leaf Chameleon

Scientific Name: Brookesia perarmata
​
The Antsingy Leaf Chameleon is endemic to a very small area of land on the mid-western coast of Madagascar. It is currently listed as Endangered by the IUCN with a decreasing population. Threats include agriculture, ranching, logging operations, and hunting/trapping of the Chameleon (Richard Jenkins et al., 2011).

Scientific Name: Cycas micronesica
​
Fadan is a species of Cycad endemic to Guam and the Federated States of Micronesia. Currently populations of decreasing with threats including housing and urban development, as well as invasive species and diseases (Marler, 2009).

Common Name: Orinoco Crocodile

Scientific Name: Crocodylus intermedius
​
The Orinoco Crocodile is a critically endangered species of crocodile inhabiting portions of Columbia and Venezuela. Populations are currently declining due to illegal poaching and excessive fishing in waterways (Sergio Balaguera-Reina (Texas Tech University, Científicas (IVIC)), Palmarito), Humboldt), & Unellez), 2017).

Scientific Name: Rhynchocyon chrysopygus
​
The Golden-rumped Sengi is a small rodent species endemic to a small portion of Kenya’s coast. Current population is decreasing with approximately 13,000 individuals. Threats include residential and urban development, agriculture and deforestation, and poaching (Francisco) & Clare FitzGibbon (Welltown, 2013).

Common Name: Djibouti Francolin

Scientific Name: Pternistis ochropectus
​
The Djibouti Francolin is a critically endangered species of pheasant only found on the Horn of Africa in Djibouti. There are approximately 200-500 individuals with populations decreasing. Threats to the Djibouti Francolin include ranching, poaching, and logging of forests (International), 2018).

Common Name: François’s Langur

Scientific Name: Trachypithecus francoisi
​
The François’s Langur is a small species of primate which inhabits central China and small portions of northern Vietnam. It is currently listed as endangered with decreasing populations. Threats include agriculture, mining operations, poaching, and fires (“The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species,” 2019).
